Year one down and you’re still living in the giddy highs of married life. Hurray! Celebrate with some paper. Hmmm, bit of a comedown. Not so because you can be brilliantly creative and inventive with the material that denotes anniversary number one. As I said before, my husband bought me lots of art materials (including paper) to show me how much he loves my artwork and loves the fact that I love doing it. Aw! And I got him a photo book, filled with images taken by me at his band’s gigs around London. I think I saw a little misty pair of eyes when I gave him that. It told him I loved his music, his talent and how impressed I was to be with someone who played live to audiences in our capital city. Just because it’s ‘just’ paper, doesn’t mean you’re stuck with tearing out a sheet of A4 for your other half to look in wonderment at.
Here are a few things you could consider:
It’s the year of the paper anniversary, so you’ll need a print, but that’s good because it’s less expensive! Here are a few prints I’ve loved on Etsy (a bit addicted to Etsy at the moment…):
This could also act as a hint to a holiday destination, were you feeling flash!
I wince at this grammatical error every time I encounter it, so I love this print very much.
I seem to have been captured by typographical art in my choices. I’m a typography nerd, so I’m not shocked…
Tickets – concert, plane, train, cinema date
Date night at the cinema is always brilliant. I’d love to be taken out to the movies on my first anniversary: a simple pleasure.
A couple of Orient Express tickets would be a-maz-ing. Imagine all those views, the meals, the glamour, getting dressed up every day and night as you make your way around one of the fantastic journeys.
Similarly, imagine being presented with two plane tickets to somewhere, anywhere, just to get away the two of you. Don’t forget your toothbrush!
Or how about a gorgeous notebook in which to write sweet nothings about and to your beloved? Check these out:
Smile for the camera! I love this notebook’s design.
For jotting down out-of-this-world romantic thoughts.
Your other half has surprised you by whisking you away for your first wedding anniversary – here is where you record your memories.
I’m a sucker for a chevron, and you know my love of design per se, so it was obvious from the start that I’d jump at these lovelies.
There are so many exciting and inventive things you can do with paper. Don’t be flummoxed by the thought that the theme is dull: it really isn’t! Here are a few more ideas…
Now, go and enjoy planning how you’ll celebrate that first anniversary. Didn’t the time fly…
