Grooms! I feel you’re being overlooked, and it’s not on! The old saying that “it’s the bride’s day, really, though, isn’t it?” is total poppycock (or stronger). Especially in this day and age of the bloggable wedding, where every last detail in styling and identity is displayed proudly. The stylish menfolk of the world are after a piece of the wedding style action, and why the dickens not? If there are two people standing at that altar, there should be two people getting in about the place during the lead-up. I think, thank God, the days of styling, fashion and grooming being seen as not manly, or ‘what women do’ are behind us, so we’re seeing more and more men looking as dapper and coiffed as the women look gorgeous and pampered on the wedding day.
It’s definitely a trend set to grow and grow. When I interviewed ReeRee Rockette recently on my post about Rockalily Cuts, she said:
I think the men are wanting more of the wedding action! We recently had a groom and his groomsmen all come in for their hair styled before their wedding, and they even brought the photographer, just like a bride would do.
I love it! What I want to do on Way Out Wedding is give the fellas a bit of the spotlight, and provide look books and inspiration for everybody. I hope you like this new section.
First in line here is the gorgeous wedding of Pen and Jeff, shot by the brilliant Mick Shah of Miki Photography. Their wedding day is a 1950s dream, full of tattoos, quiffs, and everything rock ‘n’ roll from that era. The bride and groom are just the image of cool. Grooms with a rock ‘n’ roll soul, check out these pictures for inspiration…
