A vintage wedding where the reception celebrations were held in a fortress? You can be sure this one made my heart skip! What I love when looking through the gorgeous photos is that the sheer joy of the couple and their guests, and the relaxed vibe of their whole day, are the things that hit you first: this is just the happiest wedding! So much smiling and laughing! These two are clearly best friends and soul mates: true love.
The styling is completely brilliant, and you can tell it’s natural to the couple as they really are. This is my favourite kind of wedding: a happy party, as the bride described it. Plus everyone there had immensely cool shoes.
The beautiful photography is by Wouter van Twillert of Yes I Do Wedding Photography. I’m doing a standalone piece on him and his work soon because it’s all fantastic! Anyway, on with the wedding!
This is an old fortress. We liked the location because of the rough look of the place. Inside, we had three connected rooms that we transformed into a dancing room, bar and a place to sit and chat. We also used one of the rooms to have dinner and good conversations.
We also asked all our guests to dress vintage. So, we had a lot of bow-tied man with hats and a lot of girls wearing beautiful vintage outfits.
The DIY/Thrifty Bits
The bride made the bouquet herself, and Jaap crafted his own gentleman’s walking stick!
Enjoy each other! Before, during and after the wedding.
