A perfect match from the very beginning, with the proposal just nine months after they met, and the big day just five months after that, the bride and groom in today’s real wedding are so laidback and easygoing that their wedding day looks like the most fun ever. I love so much the Hollywood kiss by the funfair, the bride throwing her hands up in the air with a big ‘wooohooo!!’, and the dancing wearing sunglasses! This is how you have fun on the nervewracking big day – you smile, you laugh, you pull silly faces with your buddies in some fun shots, and you basically just go for it. No stuffiness here, just 100% fun, love and laughter!
Sara and Zulfiqar’s wedding was held on a beautiful sunny day, August 4th, 2012, at Above & Beyond in Muskegon, MI, USA. They married outdoors amidst floral pompoms and petals, partied in a limo, and danced the night away with family and friends. Pink, purple, green and cream was the fresh and modern colour scheme. A fun and beautiful wedding day, captured wonderfully by the fabulous Shannon Tomasik of ST Photography.
Zulf proposed when we were on our way to a week-long cruise to the Caribbean for his birthday. He was planning to propose actually on the cruise, but was too excited and could not wait, so he proposed in the car while driving to the cruise ship!
The bride is a girl after my own heart with her DIY glitter shoes – she took an old pair of shoes and covered them with glitter using ModPodge. Love it!
While I was getting ready and taking first look pictures, a pipe burst under our ceremony site and it flooded! Luckily, the team at Above & Beyond, along with some of my family, were able to completely move the ceremony site before any guests arrived and noticed the flood.
- Don’t take wedding planning too seriously
- The most important part of the day is to make sure that it is what you want and to have fun! I loved our wedding so much because it was relaxed, it was fun, and most of all it accurately reflected who we are as a couple.
First dance – I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz. We selected this because we know marriage is not easy, and that there would be days when we would disagree and not like each other, but our promise to each other is that no matter what, we will not give up. This song was perfect!
Down the aisle – When You Wish Upon a Star from Cinderella (instrumental version).
