The thing I love most about this collection from Made by Anatomy is that there are lots of non-traditional lengths, shapes, and styles, most refreshingly in the form of separates. It’s an incredibly modern set of bridal wear for the contemporary bride in a wedding world full of volume, layers, and length. It is, simply put, a breath of fresh air.
Ali Eagen, who owns the label, spoke to me about this beautiful new collection…
I started making custom women’s clothing in Buffalo, NY, USA, in 2010, and I quickly fell into custom bridal, servicing a niche group of women seeking a wedding dress that’s really unique and easy to wear.
My pieces are sensible, feminine, and classic with a modern twist.
Creating flattering and stylish silhouettes with a hint of nostalgia is paramount to my design process.
The bride that comes to Anatomy likes the modern elegance and quality that we provide. She’s most likely a late 20-something, young professional, sharing a home and urban garden with her fiancé and their cat.
She could equally be the 40-something first- or second-time bride, accompanied by some little ones with a set of vastly different priorities.
Her ideal wedding is a small ceremony with her closest friends, followed by a brunch reception at Pastis. She has a laid back and fun attitude, and just wants to feel beautiful while she kisses the love of her life all day.
This collection comprises cocktail dresses and gowns that are made-to-measure and can be modified to suit the bride’s style. There’s an air of nostalgia and beauty in the modern yet subtly vintage-inspired silhouettes, which are made of silk chiffons, crepes, and shantung with stunning beaded and Chantilly laces. Many of our brides love the wear-ability of the dress and have even worn it for other occasions. It’s a very old-fashioned way of considering a wedding dress, when it used to be the most beautiful dress you had cut from the finest cloth.
At Anatomy, we believe a woman looks her best in a well-fitted garment that is stylish, flattering and feminine in a beautiful and luxurious fabrication. To us, the wow factor is the bride in the dress, not the dress itself.
