This wedding is super modern and as chilled and happy as they come. I love the quirky venue, and the reason they chose it. I love that some of the beautiful bits for their big day, like the bride’s dress and shoes, were bought on their world trip. And the best bit is that they had their awesome wedding rings made in an art shop in north New Zealand! It’s all just so easygoing and natural, and you can see that shine through in the pictures. The bride described their day to me as, “a no fuss wedding. Our day was about love. Love for each other, our families and our friends.”
Jurijn and Judith married on June 7th, 2014, at their favourite pub the Sluyswacht, a strikingly lopsided building on the Oude Schans, which is right next to the Amsterdam School of the Arts. Cooler venues than this would be hard to find! Not only is it a brilliantly offbeat place in which to get hitched, but they first met there and have friends who work there, so it’s doubly dear to them.
Without the Sluyswacht, we would probably never have met, so this was a very special place for us. It’s not a very regular wedding venue! But we wanted to get married there, because it’s an important place to us and our friends.
We chose the song Sky and Sand by Paul and Fritz Kalkbrenner. We fell in love with each other during the Lowlands Festival while we were watching them perform.
