By now, you know I’m a lover of the styled shoot. And that I’m a little bit partial to a Snow White theme. The reds and whites are filled with symbolism of purity and passion, not that you need to be pure of course, but they’re also sort of Christmassy, which is where I’m at at the moment: prematurely festive.
Styled shoots on the wedding blogs are your equivalent of a glossy magazine editorial – inspirational, aspirational and located just outside of reality. They’re a place where you lose yourself in a daydream of weddingness, and fabulous vendors and suppliers get to let fly their creativity, their artistic side, their talent, in a way that fully complements the services you’d get from them for your own big day.
Don’t take them as something to make you feel alienated or like you have to recreate the same look in its entirety, but rather as a moodboard, or even a list of contacts to make a note of. Or maybe you could recreate elements that you like and add them to plans already made. Just like when you read your magazine, you don’t buy couture, you go grab your own clothes, or high street ones, or thrift ones, and you create a look based on how the overall styling spoke to you.
All in all, enjoy these highly creative and visual shoots: they’re meant to inspire and showcase not make you feel distant.
Regarding this beautiful shoot, there are many gorgeous ways to incorporate some Snow White imagery into your day, whether it’s apples in your bouquet, a true red lipstick, or my favourite bit here, the woodcutter’s tree stump that says ‘Once upon a time…’. You could even have table names of the seven dwarves!
Handing you over now to Snow White, Prince Charming, and a blood-red and pure white dream to inspire your plans…
