Wes Anderson‘s distinctive film style, with its offbeat depiction of charmingly odd self-contained worlds, full of awkwardly loveable characters, is a bit of a brilliant idea for an engagement shoot style. This is the pre-wedding shoot of Kath-Erin and Andy, and it’s charming, offbeat, and very happy. I think you’ll love it as much as I do!

We chose Pollok Park in Glasgow for our engagement shoot. As we were having a city centre wedding – The Trades Hall – we wanted a different backdrop and feel for our engagement photos. I saw a Wes Anderson themed engagement shoot on a wedding blog and liked the quirkiness and happiness of it. We wanted the shoot to be fun, so we brought different props, books, etc. Kristin totally captured our personalities; we love our photos.

We met through friends. Our best friends Lindsay and Archie are married to each other. They’d been together about three years before they thought to match-make us!

We were on holiday in Boston when Andy proposed in a lovely little restaurant. He picked the ring himself and only told his best man he was going to do it. The next day, we went down to New York to meet our friends and celebrate. It was perfect for me as I don’t think I would have liked a big public engagement.

An engagement shoot was part of our photography package. It was such a fun day, and we’ve now got amazing extra photos to add to our wedding day ones to look back on. It also gave us a chance to get to know Kristin before the big day. I would thoroughly recommend doing an engagement shoot as it gives insight as to what to expect on the wedding day, and lets the photographer know what style you’re looking for.
