This high-class, old school Hollywood glamour styled shoot is a shoot of two halves. There are two photographers, Kat Forsyth and Heline Bekker, both capturing the scene. It’s so interesting to see what two different people produce from the same set-up, and for this reason I’m really excited to feature it.

What Kat Saw

What Heline Saw

The Story of the Shoot

“Kat and Heline are two of my dearest friends and both happen to be exceptionally talented photographers who I adore working with. When each was keen to explore a glamorous ‘Old Hollywood’ theme, I thought it’d be interesting to see how each would approach the same subject matter and capture the look in their unique ways.

“I also took this opportunity to explore two new business directions for myself. In the past year, I’ve been asked to create several silk flower bouquets for destination brides, so I decided to try my hand at a couple of richly-coloured arrangements in our key colours of reds, purples and a touch of peach. Also, in response to some remarks from past brides, I’ve returned to my typographical roots and created a range of comprehensive wedding stationery suites, all full of flowers – the perfect fusion of my deepest creative passions!” Gwenda – The Vintage Floral Design Co.

“I used classic old vintage styles within the make-up, very simple matte finish foundations, a little blush, all with strong liquid liner and plush lips. I exaggerated the Cupid’s bow to give the glamorous pout.” Josie – Josie Lock MUA

“I formed a soft marvel wave throughout both models’ hair, keeping a natural feel. This allowed me to sweep the hair across the shoulder to give a real ‘Old Hollywood’ look, and pull the hair up into a soft up-do, keeping the wave to frame the face.” Louise – Louise Alway Hairstylist

“With the aesthetic brief of ‘Hollywood Sirens,’ it was glamour that had to dominate for this shoot. Luxurious fabrics with exquisite detail was key, so the delicate but stunning beading detail on the Lara Hannah April dress was perfect. Exuding the elegance of a 1930s starlet, the luxurious crepe, scalloped edged sleeve and plunging neckline with heavy embellishment made April the ultimate choice. For a more sophisticated and delicate look, I chose a beautiful floral garland dress by Federica Bruno in luxurious satin with an incredible flower detail around the bodice. A truly stunning design perfect for a Hollywood star!” Karen – Rock The Frock Bridal Boutique

“I created an ivory and green cake and gave it an art deco feel by adding a fan as well as feathers and diamantes.” Lau – French Made

“I chose an elegant peep-toe style for the shoes in a vintage mottled gold leather, adorned with light and delicate feathers dusted with gold glitter at the tips for that touch of Hollywood glamour.” Marsha – Marsha Hall Handmade Shoes
