This gorgeous shoot introduces a new premium collaborative collection by Flossy & Dossy and Modiste, “where Edwardian meets modern, creating stunning, aisle-worthy looks that update brides with colour, elegant embellishment, and offers separates and cover-up options for comfort and trend. Dresses by Flossy & Dossy are teamed with dedicated accessories, designed especially for this collection by Modiste.”
The results are pure elegance and sophistication. I think I would feel a million bucks in all of these! Like a film star!
The Story of the Shoot and the Style
An alternative to standard issue silver/clear crystal/white pearl accessories appears in the combination of cool metallics with various metal finishes like antique bronze, platinum look and rose gold with mixes of pearl. This thread of showing brides how to be a little more adventurous with colour highlights and details is carried through to the hair with plaits, light crimping and texturized styles by Lana at Cameo Bridal Styling, and in soft metallic touches and depth in eye and lip colour in make up by Cat Robertson.
Capturing the spirit of ‘The Gibson Girl’ with a contemporary twist, the shoot suggests comparisons with the early 1900s ‘New Woman’ with the 2016 ‘new bride’ boldly breaking boundaries to embrace a new bridal/fashion crossover. The historical reference also comes alive in the mix of the beautiful mood of the lighting in the photos by Jo Donaldson Photography and the darker corners of the venue, Sloans Glasgow.
About the Dresses and their Accessory Partners!
Going for Gold? Try ‘Fleur’ with layers of buttermilk silk base and intricate gold lace overlay, embellished with guipure lace and hand beading and velvet ribbon waist trim. In accessories, choose from a selection in antique bronze finish. If you want to accentuate back details, then go for the ‘Alice’ back headpiece chain, or for a banded style that can be versatile in front or back placement, ’Amelia’ headband with metal flower/pearl detail looks great teamed with Amelia drop chain/pearl clip earrings.
For the luxe bride?… It’s got to be ‘Linnea’…beyond luxury, it’s cool elegance at its finest: a silk slip base with a intricately embellished overlay, in a dropped waist slim silhouette. Mixes of freshwater pearls, silver leaves and coloured pearls give an added luxury with the ‘Sabine’ crown style headpiece.
On trend separates? It’s doesn’t have to be all about structure; two piece options can offer a layered and relaxed feel to your wedding look with ‘Calla’ – a boned bodice figure hugger in fine Chantilly lace over a sandwiched silk base with lace jacket teamed with the ‘Mabel’ jewelled ear cuff comb chain (this dress is also featured with the nude pearl back headpiece ‘Cara’).
Flossy & Dossy also features separates in the ‘Saorise’ skirt in silk satin/chiffon and ‘Senna’ paisley lace design ballet top with silk camisole, styled with ‘Aubrey’ gold/brass floral/pearl headband and some killer crimp plaits!
