There’s a whole lotta Tim Walker about this shoot by Georgina of Ruby Weddings, and I love Tim Walker a lot. I also enjoy seeing bridal brought out of its usual context and dropped straight down into another world, usually of dreamlike quality where nothing is as it seems. Georgina and team, you’ve created a beauty here…
The Story of the Shoot by Georgina of Ruby Weddings
I’ve been in Brighton for a few months now and am loving everything about the place, especially being near the sea. Since moving, I’ve been itching to set up a photoshoot in my new home town to share all the reasons why I fell in love with the place. The sea has brought me so much happiness and is a daily source of inspiration, as the colours and views change every single day. It truly is a magical place and a perfect location for my first styled shoot.
My lovely friend Rosie Red was due a visit to see my new place, so we decided it was the perfect opportunity to have some work-related fun while she was here, and together we created a shoot to showcase her growing Wanderlust Collection on Brighton Beach.
Rosie’s designs are very natural, with lots of flowing fabrics, which reflected the crashing waves of the sea, and they’re covered with beautiful fabric flowers, which look as if they’re growing out of the fabric. I wanted to keep the look for the shoot simple, but with large, contrasting statement flowers that worked so well against the dramatic backdrop.
I worked for the first time with the fabulous AJ Judge (also my new hairdresser!), who created a long flowing braid for our model Amy, filled with heaps of volume and movement. The relaxed style of the hair complemented the oversized flower crown created by the wonderful Neil from Hunter Florist, along with a huge bouquet that was just breathtaking. I was so lucky to work with both of them on this shoot; I really lucked out finding them!
Our fabulous team was completed by the super talented Stevie-Ella Photography, who was just a joy to work with. She understood my vision for the shoot and worked tirelessly to get the shots we were after.
I hope you like my first of many Brighton shoots – I’m looking for more fabulous suppliers to work with in the future, so please do get in touch to see what magic we can create.
