Cloud 9 – The Bridal Editorial Where a Rainbow Exploded

_MG_5381

I think we all need a little rainbow love in our lives right now, so what better time to introduce this incredible explosion of brites!

What really excites me is the textures as well as the fabulous colours – we have pom poms, lace, little fluffy clouds and sequins. It’s a gorgeously insane mix of everything, but it all works together amazingly.

If you were ever to shy away from tradition and a white dress, I would wholeheartedly recommend going the full distance headlong into this magical dream. I sometimes suggest picking out elements of these editorial shoots to use in your wedding day styling, but in this case nope: use it all. It WORKS!!

The Story of the Shoot from Hayley of A Peculiar Dream

The main inspiration behind this colourful theme was to embrace the celebratory aspect of weddings and pull in some really beautiful tones, textures and materials in order to create an almost dreamlike environment. The white cotton ‘clouds’ helped to set the scene, too!

Because the backdrop was so full of colour, we absolutely had to work with designers and brands that didn’t shy away from non-traditional dresses and accessories. We enlisted the help of Joanne Fleming, Vintage Trousseau, and Heart Aflutter. The shoot illustrates beautifully that a coloured wedding gown doesn’t need to be brash or crazy; the dresses we featured were in some of the softest and most romantic hues – blush sequins, palest peppermint lace, ice blues and barely there lilac worked beautifully with the fun aspect of Irregular Choice shoes.

The shoes selected were pure fairytale! Glitter encrusted bow detail shoes, which twinkle with tiny lights at a click of your heel, swan-shaped heels, and bold embroidered boots, worked alongside the dresses perfectly.

Delicate headdresses from PS With Love added an understated edge, and teamed with hand dyed veils from Sash + Veil these were the icing on the cake!

Confetti bombs, sparklers and a 2-tier cake drizzled with peach icing and decorated with bluebells and glitter dipped feathers created a great focal point.

Some of the larger illuminated props were hand made by up and coming prop designers North of Paris. The rainbow archway, ‘Paradise’ sign and pom pom tree all added to the party vibe!

Pastel jewel encrusted earrings, bracelets and necklaces were provided by Krystal jewellery.

We hope we’ve inspired brides-to-be to embrace their individuality and break out of the ivory or more traditional wedding themes we have seen so many times before.
