Love, love, love this shoot for about a million reasons. One – it is white as snow with injections of beautifully bright colours that really ‘pop’ as they say. Two – it is modern and keeps details to a minimum so that the styling is confident and direct: it packs a punch. Three – there is a GOLD PINEAPPLE CAKE!!! It’s the cutest thing!!

The Story of the Shoot by Shilpa Reddy

“The concept of this shoot arose from wanting to bring diversity to the wedding industry. So often, wedding couples tell me that they can’t find images in the mainstream media that resonate with them and we want to change that!

“Inspired by the wonderful display of love at ‘PRIDE’ in London we came up with a grown-up, laid back, luxury concept. Tropical foliage with urban styling for a truly dreamy wedding.

“The key to this look is keeping it fresh. We used lots of fresh green foliage and modern accessories. Our black leather seating and photography stand give the look a design-led feel. I love using feature pieces that make people look twice… mini fresh pink pineapples will definitely give your guests something to swoon over, and they can even take them home as favours. Use an accent colour to lift your scheme: we used an on-trend ‘blush’ shade to carry through from the cocktails, to the pineapples, and even to our bride’s hair colour!

The Dream Team

“As we wanted to promote diversity, it was important for us to feature a ‘real life’ couple. We were very lucky that the gorgeous Federica and Mariann were keen to celebrate their love with us and hopefully also pick up some ideas for their upcoming nuptials!

“Fen and Segs from Monannie Cakes create luxurious designs with metallic hints of copper and gold… a perfect match for this shoot. I fell in love with their designs when I chanced upon one of  their beautiful peacock creations, and immediately thought ‘who better to bring to life my daring vision of a golden pineapple-shaped bake!’

“Paola from Paola De Paola Photography is a true artist and has had her work extensively published. Paola has worked on many same-sex shoots and weddings and brings colour, life and joy to every shot she takes.

“When I explained the shoot concept to House of Ollichon, Hannah was quick to suggest her two-piece separates and they were perfect. Clean, fresh, modern and luxurious… I was all over it!

“The lovely Lawrence from Love Signage started out in the pub and urban signage business, but thankfully for us he chose to carry over his beautiful and individual style to weddings. His fun and luxurious gold-edged boards make for gorgeous keepsakes.

“Jane from Jane S. John Make-up is a veteran in the world of styled shoots, so I knew she’d be able to bring out Federica’s gorgeous hair tone to best effect. Mariann wasn’t keen on being too made up, as she prefers to go fresh faced normally, so Jane worked with her to create a modern barely-there look.

“West Reservoir centre has so many beautiful details, including its industrial pillars and immense windows, which allow the venue to be bathed in natural light. Its gritty urban chic worked perfectly against the gentler blush and ivory tones that are present throughout the shoot.

“And finally me! I started Shilpa Reddy Flower Design to cater for fashion-forward London couples who want gorgeous non-traditional floral designs. I’m currently in love with transforming urban warehouse spaces and have a penchant for hanging arrangements. I’m finding that more and more London couples want to marry in venues that reflect their lifestyle and locale, rather than traditional venues. Long may the trend continue!”
