I have been absolutely dying to show you these shoes from Charla Tedrick for ages. When I was organising our Prom Night editorial, seen here on Bespoke Bride, I spied the amazing Blaire platforms (a pastel blue, perfectly kitschy platform that just screamed ’70s prom to me) and I asked to borrow them. Alas, I had left it too late to battle things like shipping times, but lovely Charla sent over the equally showstopping Lucille and Diamonds & Guns (loving the names!!) for our upcoming pretty punk editorial.
When they arrived, the team was blown away with how sexy fit cool amazing they were. Lucille has flowers in a clear heel, for crying out loud!!
I knew this was a brand that you all had to hear about. So here is Charla to tell you in her own words all about it!
Ooh actually just quickly before I hand over, two exciting things:
- There is a discount code further down this post for you
- You can WIN A PAIR OF THEM in an upcoming competition, OH, MY DAYS!!!! Join my newsletter to be in with a chance by clicking here.

Today I want to introduce you to French Made, the incredible French cake maker of London Town. Influenced by the avant-garde, the alternative, and with her heart firmly in the darker side of the 1980s, Lauren makes wedding cakes that are perfect for readers of this blog. They’re all gorgeously different from the traditional white tower, and French Made works with you to create your perfect cake that truly reflects you both.
I’ve worked with Lauren on many styled shoots and I adore her creativity, her professionalism, the stunning cakes that make me gasp (I could never make anything like that!!), and I can confidently recommend her to you for your wedding.
Oh, and scroll down for an exclusive offer for readers of this blog only!!

You’ll know by now that I love Vivienne Westwood. The voluptuous drapes and quirky structures of her dresses are perfect for bridal. Showstopping bridal. I thought I’d take the opportunity to show you my favourite bits and bobs from the Vivienne Westwood website for your wedding inspiration. The couture, capsule, made to order and bridal collections require you to be fitted at the Davies Street store, obviously, but the groom accessories, shoes and jewellery can be bought online with the free shipping offer. Capsule collection AW15/16
Before I show you the more traditional bridal, I thought you might like to see the capsule collection for more offbeat choices of dress. It’s good to be open-minded about looking at designers’ ranges other than straight-up bridal. Any of these could be wedding-appropriate in today’s world. I think my favourite dress to walk down the aisle in is the pink one with the belt. Killer.
Couture collection AW15/16
These are much more familiar as bridal in shape and structure, but the colours add a drama perfect for a way out bride.
Bridal made to order AW15/16
Even though these are much more traditional in terms of colour and shape, there’s no mistaking the Westwood touches.
Bridal collection AW15/16
My favourite range of the recognisably bridal collections, definitely. Far quirkier than the range above, these designs lean on the boundaries much more and are very much statement pieces.
We cannot skip over shoes when it comes to a Vivienne Westwood bride. Those well-known gorgeous PVC shoes are colourful and sexy, not to mention affordable for designer apparel, and so are incredibly popular among alternative brides. They’re becoming a cult item. I’ve also chosen some others from the range that I love.
Alternative brides, check these out for your jewellery: we have skulls, bones, keys to the heart and a three-loop set of pearls with the famous orb. These pieces are excellent in their difference, and yet not too different to upset your mum.
There are very few men’s ranges that get me excited, but Vivienne Westwood’s are one of them. Men are never boring with her. There’s just as much colour, pattern, innovative drapery and theatre in these garments as with the women’s collections. Grooms often get left behind in the wedding planning, so for the ones who want a piece of the sartorial action on the big day, Vivienne Westwood is where to go!
You’ll have twigged by now that my heart belongs to Etsy! I’ve spent many a happy hour finding cool new shops and adding hundreds of items to my bulging favourites list. I’ve done WOW Hearts… posts filled with links to makers, and one on finding alternative dresses on Etsy, because it’s pretty much one of the best treasure troves for offbeat brides around. Handmade and design-led marvellousness all on one website. So I sort of went, “WOOOHOO!!” when Etsy emailed me about its upcoming wedding fair – a physical space in which to view these wedding gems with your own eyes?? Er, YESSS!!! And what’s more, I’ve been given a pair of tickets to give away, so you could be finding your bridal attire along with your +1 in this magical place. You are welcome.
To win, simply email me with your name and which date you would like to attend.
But don’t worry if you don’t win because details are at the end of the post of how to buy tickets. And they are a bargain!! All is not lost!
What to expect at the Etsy wedding fair
The make-your-own floral headpiece workshop will run throughout the day – 45 minutes per class, all materials included. Book here (£5 per session, plus you will need to have an event ticket to attend).
