Here’s a PSA before we dive into the styling goodness of this post: there will be a lot of imperatives in this post. Biggest. Best. Coolest. Most. Most incredible, most inspirational, most design-led, most cutting-edge. Most Curious, take it away.
It’s that time of year again (AGH, already?!) for the coolest wedding show around – and we mean cool in the cool way, not the crap way. A Most Curious Wedding Fair, the wedding show for the style-savvy couple, lands on the iconic Old Truman Brewery on the 2nd-4th March 2018, ready to bring us another year of incredible exhibitors, and insane inspiration for everything from catwalk to crudités. We’re SO psyched to be giving you a couple of exclusive styling sneakpeeks too – as the plans for this fair’s décor have just been revealed! This is hot hot information, as the Most Curious team is always one step ahead of the trends (are their ears burning, somewhere? Becky, are your ears getting hot?)
This year, Most Curious is channelling FREE LOVE ON THE HIGHWAY for their fair décor, and we are HERE. FOR. IT. Taking inspiration from the iconic Haight-Ashbury psychedelic aesthetic – and you know how much we love an old school cultural reference – the groovy flower power feels will be brought up to date for forward-thinking brides with a modern, city-style hippy vibe. Think mesmerising swirls, bright colours, busy flowers, protest placards, festival art…we can feel the sun kissed rays on our pale faces already!
And here’s the exclusive for you lovelies, so listen in and listen close: the décor is going to be larger than LIFE this year. A giant textured wall installation will be created by the fringe and paper wizard that is Pop Pop Papier, complete with giant all-seeing 3D flowers created to totally get lost in by May Contain Glitter. A Spoonful of Sugar will also be hand drawing a huge mural onto the wall in their famous Marriage Material logo for the ultimate selfie opportunity (why not get some of their merch to wear, and do an Inception kinda thang?). And to really bring those music festival vibes home, there’ll be vinyl stickers of ’70s inspired doodles dotted around the venue. Oh. My. God.
Hazel Gardiner Floral Design (below) will be transforming the brand new catwalk area with an incredible plastic fantastic meets flower power vibe (which is like our dream come true?) We’re talking Perspex AND posies – flowers encased in acrylic or wrapped behind polythene for a totally conceptual take on wedding styling.
She’ll also be designing a very poignant space for the fair, as this year’s show is being run in memory of founder Becky’s darling daughter Xian Hui, who devastatingly died before she was born last year. (This year, 10% of all of the show’s proceeds will go to 4Louis, an organisation who create memory boxes free of charge to bereaved parents who’ve suffered a miscarriage or neonatal death.) In her memory and her legacy, fluffy clouds of gypsophila and blossom will fill the entrance to provide a soft and calm space for visitors, adorned with peace sign motifs to symbolise it as a place for a moment of peace and remembrance for all those we will be forever missing.
THE INSPIRATION MOODBOARDS
We cannot wait to get our groove on with Becky and the team at Most Curious this year – and with styling teasers like this, we might start camping out now. Perspex, posies, and psychedelic dreaming – this is going to be the best fair yet.
