Sometimes, shoots, weddings or lookbooks are meticulously planned, with months of deliberation over minutiae and particulars with specifics exacted to a microscopic level. Sometimes, a bunch of people just come together with a loose but bloody awesome brief, and create some magic. This incredible botanical-meet-industrial shoot from the crazily talented Agnes Black was the latter, and it definitely doesn’t disappoint!

“This shoot is an example of how quickly something really cool can come together in a short period of time, when you have the perfect team of creative, passionate and dedicated suppliers on board!”

The venue is the brand spanking new fivefourstudios in Salford, a studio setting full of the obligatory gorgeous light and blank walls, but also including darker corners that beg you to explore them, a chic bar and laid back chill out areas. Ellie – the tour de force behind the Indie Wedding Fair as well as the gal behind Soft Touch Events – and Felicity – who together co-own Inner City Weddings – transformed the empty space with their plethora of industrial furniture, props and styling.

Working the space to its maximum advantage without filling it so much that it would lose its airy charm, they created a ceremony set-up, as 54 Studios has a licence. Mismatched chairs flanked a pillar-candle-lined aisle leading to a registrar’s table, and finished with tea lights and assorted bottles. Wildwood Paper Store supplied a stunner of a stationery suite with hand-drawn foliage and spring anemones, and table numbers encased in pewter-rimmed hanging frames. To add texture to the suite, some of the elements were on kraft paper, showing that Kraft can still be Kool – even if it has been twee-ified elsewhere almost to death. Marie Antoinette Cake Design’s creation was a grey slate number that perfectly matched the gritty urban edge the shoot had – industrial, but still chic.

The focal point of the ceremony was an incredible metal arch, adorned with swoonworthy blooms by Sassflower. Setting the tone perfectly between super-cool urban and soft botanical, beautifully curated clusters of blooms hung on each corner, with matched low, wide table centres. An eclectic mix of rich jewel tones, from burnt orange to deep winey Marsalas brought moody style to the airy studio space, and tactile textures made the whole look elegant yet effortless – expertly done, yet almost undone. Aaaaaand, as Sasha from Sassflower is such a megababe, she’s even detailed the varieties she’s used – this shoot really is the gift that keeps on giving!

“Ingredients included Burgundy and Black Fox Dahlias, lashings of Peppertree Foliage, accents of white lisianthus, million star astrantia and pampass grass, featuring the Nude Sahara Rose and finished off with trailing amaranths. The bouquet was flowing and full of rich tones, and was hand tied with hand dyed ribbons from Silk & Purl.”

And now: the bridalwear. Oh, the bridalwear, she says, with eyes that are ballooning into giant red love hearts as she speaks. The gorgeous Millie donned an unstructured bohemian Felicity Cooper gown for the ceremony and I am Florence shoes, both from the White Yard. Amba Logan worked her make-up magic with a subtle soft and dewy look accompanied by a messy overflowing braid to mirror the perfect wild and undone look of the flowers.

Look number two was more city-chic, with a bolder lip, a gorgeous swept-up bun and the most divine calf-length dress, featuring a blush slip and so much embroidered adornment.  Finished off with some equally as incredible chunky embellished shoes, they hung out in the bar for a bit, playing on its slick charm and laidback cool – and falling way in love with its resident mustard chair.

The final look was a real LOOK and I absolutely ADORE it. High waisted ivory trousers, a plunging sequinned V neck number and more vamped-up make up look for the party, it was the perfect look for an evening of unspeakable things. And who knew a pommel horse could look so bloody stylish? This incredible team, that’s who.
